National Library of Ireland Touring Exhibition
Visit the National Library of Ireland’s new travelling banner exhibition, Strangers to Citizens, at Claremorris Townhall Theatre, created under the auspices of the EU Presidency of Ireland.
People, ideas and goods have always moved over and back between Ireland and continental Europe. That exchange quickened after 1600 as profound social, religious and economic upheaval pushed successive waves of Irish migrants to the continent. This exhibition explores the story of the Irish in Continental Europe.
The Exhibition runs in the Theatre from Tuesday, 3rd November 2026 to Friday, 8th January 2027and is open weekdays from 9.30am to 5.00pm – excluding 1pm to 2pm when the venue is closed for lunch. The exhibition will also be open for viewing at other times during events.
