Bursting with energy, humour, and heart, this much-loved show brings the beloved characters of Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona to life in a spectacular performance filled with catchy songs, vibrant costumes, and plenty of laughs for all ages.

Featuring a talented cast of students and a dedicated production team, this promises to be a fantastic evening of entertainment for the whole community. Join us as we journey to a faraway kingdom where fairy tales are turned upside down and true friendship shines through.

Mayo Men and the Spirit of Adventure and Inventiveness: A reflection on past lives with an eye on the present.

An illustrated lecture by Dr Michael O’Connor.

Drawing on a series of case studies of lesser-known Mayo men who left Ireland in search of adventure, glory, profit, a life, or simply a better life, this lecture delves into the complex histories of Mayo men abroad and the legacies of these sojourners and emigrants in the twenty-first century. Themes explored include ambition, determination, colonialism, imperialism, parallesim, race and multiculturalism.

Doors open at 5:30pm with the lecture commencing at 6:00pm.

This is a FREE Mayo Day event – all are welcome to attend.

Irish music star Michael English is delighted to announce a brand-new Irish concert tour for 2026 – and he’s bringing his spectacular live show to Claremorris Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, 7^th May 2026.

Fans can look forward to an unforgettable evening of music and entertainment as Michael and his superb band present an all-new show filled with his biggest hits, including Locklin’s Bar, Tuam Beat, Nearest to Perfect and many more.

Michael will also showcase Irish classics from his latest album at the piano, as well as timeless country favourites made famous by legends such as Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Charley Pride, and many others.

Joining Michael as very special guest will be none other than Mayo native, Gerry Carney. His songs often draw on everyday life, faith, and the Irish experience. He has written material performed by well-known Irish artists. Carney’s song writing blends traditional influences with contemporary themes. His work is admired for its sincerity and emotional depth.
